I have a few comments/questions. 1. Aren't you kind of glad that you didn't get higher up on Loaded Direct with that rod in your leg?! 2. "Yeah, it's really ballsy... but I've done it... you should see my balls, they're massive" classic American boulderer talk there. 3. Did Tony Woodcock manage to climb Landjager too?

A well worn trick! Another fav with the dabbers is to jam the rope below the 'biner between your body (knee usually) and the rock and then rest on the rope.

I like to clip high on a rope (especially if it's near the end of a route and there is lots of drag) and then down-climb a move or two for a mint rest. Works especially well when the belayer isn't paying attention and doesn't feed rope. Shot!

I doubt that a Baring Head event would get organised if the WN volunteer pool was all doing the 'Rak and it would be a shame to drop the Rock Hop tradition. Bouldering interest is moving to the Rak. The name 'Rak Hop keeps the brand alive but the new event distinct.

I'm not sure tho' that the 'Rak would appeal as much to the consumer climber as a Baring Head comp. But I think it should be tried and I hope I'm wrong.
