Ω Ex-Dunedin boulderer Oliver Miller (now based in the UK) has been firing on the grit lately, with ascents of many grit classics including Brad Pitt V10 (his first problem of the grade), Tetris V9, The Terrace V9, Blind Date V8 and the old skool Zippy’s Traverse V7/8 Ω

Yeah boy! Nice work on Brad Pitt Oliver, keep it up.

  2. Oliver says:

Cheers Sam- Been really enjoying the gritstone problems. After climbing at Castle Hill everything here feels like it’s covered in sandpaper :)

  3. Sam Mangai says:

Haha, true. Have you tired Moffat’s ‘Joker’? One move wonder!

  4. Oliver says:

Yeah I tried it a bit- the crimps are holdable…. but very friction dependant, not the best on a week of humid and sunny weather! Next up is Ben Moon’s Mushin at The Roaches- that is a frikin cool boulder. Definitely something worth training for :D

  5. Mike S says:

Nice work Oliver good to hear you are still at it and climbing strong.

  6. JP says:

Agreed, Mushin’ is dope. I’ll have to dig out the historic footage I have of me not doing that problem. Fell off the last catch. Still had hair and a completely intact neck. Those were the days…

Cheers Mike! Cool JP that’s where I came off too on my one decent attempt…. can you remember did you go right hand first out of the underclings or left? I tried a couple of different sequences but wasn’t sure which one was the original…. Then it hit 25 degrees and the sun arrived and my skin disappeared :(

Nice Oliver! The Grit must be mint when its cold.. Still, the weather doesn’t seem to be stopping you from crushing. I think JP should dig out that footage and put it in the videos section *hint hint*. Does said footage include an ascent of the Joker?
